The Hafla on June 9th at the Abbey Studio was well attended and a wonderful event. Sarah Kerr captured some of the magic in her photographs. I love this intimate dance event/celebration which has become a bi-annual tradition at the Abbey Studio that showcases local dancers, teachers, students.

The weekend following the Hafla June 15 &16 was the Anar Dana show in Seattle. This was the result of Helene Eriksen's 2011/12 Seattle training project which I was fortunate to be a part of once again, I love dancing with Helene and these awesome women in Seattle! It was a journey that required much dedication and travelling but it was well worth it. Very grateful for the support of family and friends that helped make this happen.

The following weekend Arcana Dea dancers from the Comox Valley headed down to Nanaimo for the Belly Dance Bazaar. This is a wonderful, annaul event organized by Lynette Harper and Genya and it's a fundraiser for a local women's shelter. My class performed 'Beauty and Resistance' dance and I danced 'The Source', an Algerian Berber inspired dance with Lisa, Edith, and Katie and, I taught a mini workshop. Good fun, wonderful event and I indulged in more costumes, just what I need!

On July 14th I hosted a concert/kirtan at the Abbey Studio with Prashant Micheal John and had the pleasure of dancing with live music! Unfortunately I have no photos of that event just good memories. Hope to have some video to share from that night eventually.
Currently enjoying dancing with Laurie Montemurro for the Assemblages: still, moving and twisted show at the Denman Island Arts Centre and preparing for teaching summer dance camps at Triple Heat Summer Dance Intensive in Courtenay, this Monday!

You can still check out the Art Show *Assemblages - Still, Moving, Twisted* between 11am and 4pm any day of the week until August 7th. The dance and poetry performance happens at 3pm every day during the show.
