Abbey Studio HAFLA, Sat. Dec. 15th

photo by Sarah Kerr from the June Hafla

It's that time of year again! The Abbey Studio Hafla is a bi-annual event that marks the end of the class session, is a seasonal celebration for dancers and friends and studio fundraiser. Hafla is the Arabic word for a party that usually involves dancing (casual performances and spontaneous social dancing), music, food and drink (depending on the culture). Among belly dancers this term is commonly used for gatherings to celebrate our love of dance. A Hafla provides an opportunity to connect with other dancers and to share our dances in a supportive atmosphere. Dance lovers, supportive community members, friends and family are welcome to join us in this dance'ful celebration!

Students, teachers and, dancers of all experience levels from the Comox Valley and beyond are encouraged to share their dance creations at this intimate, festive event. Dances of all styles are welcome; belly dance, cabaret, fusion, tribal, traditional, modern, improvised, creative, expressive, in progress.... Express yourself!
